Man Killed on Road
A Mexican man was killed after being run over early Saturday on Del Dios Highway south of Escondido, said the California Highway Patrol and the county medical examiner’s office.
Benjamin Lara-Rodriguez, 34, was pronounced dead at Palomar Medical Center at 3:37 a.m., said Deputy Coroner Robert Engel.
According to the CHP, the man apparently was laying in the road when he was struck by the vehicle, which left the scene.
Authorities did not say if the man had been driving a vehicle or if he was a pedestrian. They also did not say where in Mexico he was from.
