Vestro Foods Inc.: The Newport Beach specialty food company said its second-quarter net income increased to $92,000 from $10,000 for the comparable 1989 quarter. The 1990 figure included a gain of $67,000 as a result of carrying forward an operating loss. Revenue rose 85% to $8.7 million from $4.7 million in the comparable ’89 quarter. For the six-month period, net income totaled $158,000, including an extraordinary gain of $116,000, contrasted with a year-earlier loss of $160,000. Revenue rose 68% to $15.3 million from $9.1 million. Alfred Strogoff, president and chief executive, attributed the sales increase to the company’s acquisition of Little Bear Organic Foods Inc. and Jan Holzmeister Cheesecake Ltd.
