GARDEN GROVE — A 4-year-old boy remained in critical condition today after being struck by a car in Garden Grove, police said.
Jose Roberto Valladares remained hospitalized in the pediatric intensive care unit at UCI Medical Center in Orange, hospital spokeswoman Fran Tardiff said.
Jose was playing in the front yard of his house in the 12000 block of Buaro Street at 5:30 p.m. Thursday when he dashed out into the street, Garden Grove police Lt. Kenneth Adair said.
“The child ran out from between two parked cars,” Adair said. “Nobody seems to know why the kid ran into the street.”
Jose suffered massive head injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
The driver was not cited in the accident, Adair said.
