Davis Cup Semifinals Team Named

NEW YORK — Andre Agassi, Michael Chang, Rick Leach and Jim Pugh will represent the United States against Austria in the Davis Cup semifinals next month, the U.S. Tennis Assn. announced today.

Agassi, 7-2 in Davis Cup singles, is ranked fourth in the world. Chang, ranked 10th, is 2-0 in the Davis Cup with both victories coming against Paraguay last year.

Leach and Pugh beat Mexico in the opening round of this year’s Davis Cup. Pugh is ranked first in doubles and Leach is fourth.

The winner of the series, to be played Sept. 21-23 in Vienna, plays the winner of the series between Argentina and Australia. The Americans will be the host for the finals if they advance.
