A suspect in a stabbing was arrested this morning after a three-hour standoff with Los Angeles police that ended when tear gas was shot into his North Hollywood apartment, authorities said.
Wilber Weatherly, 47, surrendered about 3:30 a.m. after a special weapons and tactics team fired a tear gas canister into a second-floor apartment along the 11500 block of Magnolia Boulevard, Lt. Stuart Maislin said.
Weatherly, who was treated for exposure to tear gas, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and was being held without bail at County Jail.
Maislin said a man whose identity was not released told officers he had been in Weatherly’s apartment when Weatherly stabbed him during an argument shortly after midnight. The man ran out of the apartment and called for help.
The victim was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he was treated for a superficial chest wound, Maislin said.
