E. Germany Bans Army’s Ceremonial Goose Step

EAST BERLIN — East Germany’s army has scrapped the ceremonial goose step, ending years of military tradition that linked the Prussians, Nazis and Communists, the state news agency reported Wednesday.
The news agency ADN quoted Disarmament and Defense Minister Rainer Eppelmann as saying the strutting step no longer suits his reformed army.
