NAMES IN THE NEWS : Madonna Sets Telecast Record
NEW YORK — Pop singer Madonna has made another record.
The telecast of the final concert Sunday of her “Blonde Ambition†tour was the most-watched entertainment special in HBO’s 18-year history, the cable company said Tuesday.
The two-hour concert, “Madonna--Live!,†was shown in the United States on a tape-delay basis because of the time difference in Nice, France, where she performed.
The program had a 21.5 rating, meaning it was seen in more than 4.3 million households that pay extra each month for the HBO service. HBO serves 20.3 million households, according to Nielsen estimates.
