WORLD IN BRIEF : BULGARIA : Government Resigns to Pave Way for Vote

Bulgarian Prime Minister Andrei Loukanov handed in his Cabinet’s resignation to clear the way for the formation of Bulgaria’s first democratically elected government in four decades. The government led by Loukanov was formed in February as a provisional ruling body to lead the nation to free parliamentary elections following Communist rule dating to 1944. A new president was elected by Parliament last week.
