San Diego
Thieves killed an undocumented immigrant near the U.S.-Mexico border early Tuesday morning, San Diego police reported.
The victim, unidentified but estimated to be in his late teens, was wearing jeans, white high-top tennis shoes, a multicolored jacket and a black shirt. The four or five robbers shot him in the head and body after he refused to give them his belongings, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
The shooting occurred about a quarter of a mile east of Dairy Mart and Monument roads about 5:30 a.m. The bandits fled through a hole in the border fence into Mexico, Robinson said.
He said the San Diego police homicide unit is being assisted by the Baja California State Judicial Police in the investigation.
