Ruling on Ground Water Promised in 30 Days
After hearing arguments in a case involving severe ground water pollution in the San Gabriel Valley, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge said Tuesday she will issue a written opinion within 30 days.
The Main San Gabriel Basin Watermaster, a nine-member board of local water agency representatives, asked Judge Florence T. Pickard for increased authority to control how and where water is pumped. Agency attorney Ralph B. Helm argued that the expanded powers are needed to remedy one of the West’s worst water pollution problems.
