3 Cities on State’s Fastest-Growing List
Three North County communities made the list of the top 25 fastest-growing cities in California in the past decade, but only one San Diego County city was included on the list of the state’s 50 richest cities, a survey showed Tuesday.
The study, conducted by the Center for Continuing Study of the California Economy, also ranked San Diego County as the eighth-fastest-growing county in the state in the 1980s.
Del Mar’s per capita income in 1987 of $20,599, the latest figure available, earned it the spot as the state’s 46th wealthiest community, the survey showed.
Most of the state’s fastest-growing cities during the population boom of the 1980s are on the fringes of large urban areas, the survey said. San Marcos was ranked 17, Carlsbad was 23 and Escondido rounded out the list at 25.
