U.S. Tries to Halt Maalox Deal: The Justice Department filed a lawsuit seeking to stop the maker of Pepto-Bismol from acquiring exclusive sales rights to Maalox. Court papers filed in federal court in Philadelphia charged that the proposed agreement between Pepto-Bismol maker Procter & Gamble and Rhone-Poulenc Rorer Inc., which makes Maalox, would lessen competition.
