LOCAL : Brando’s Son Pleads Innocent
Marlon Brando’s son pleaded innocent to murder and weapons charges today, and his lawyer asked a judge to reconsider releasing Christian Brando on “reasonable bail.â€
Attorney Robert L. Shapiro made the move to win freedom for his client after the 32-year-old Brando answered “yes†to a number of questions concerning his innocent plea in the shooting death of his half sister’s lover.
The Santa Monica courtroom was jammed with spectators, friends of Brando, reporters and even tourists who wandered in from the beach hoping to get a glimpse of the defendant’s famous father. But Marlon Brando, who has attended several previous hearings, was not at this one.
Superior Court Judge David Perez set a hearing for Thursday to consider the bail motion. Another judge previously set $10 million as the price for Brando’s freedom.
