PLATFORM : Water Equality

We retired here to get out of congestion in the Los Angeles area. We are looking for peace and quiet away from the congestion and explosive growth. Every time we moved, it was because we were being surrounded by small-industry complexes or subdivisions.

I feel, as many people do, that the continual building in Southern California has placed our resources, especially the water, in an unbalanced position. It’s getting to the point, you see a bare field or bare hillside and before you know it, there are wall-to-wall rooftops. Where is the water for those houses going to come from? They have a shortage. L.A. has a shortage.

I think it’s morally and ethically wrong for water to be taken from one area to provide for another without a thought to equality.

We need more control over building development in all the southern counties. We need some sort of state planning commission whose main function would be to equalize growth, area by area.
