Woman Dies After 5 Companions Flee Crash
Awoman was left to die by five companions Friday night in North Hollywood after the station wagon they were riding in slammed into a utility pole, police said.
Witnesses said four men and a woman tried to pull the dying woman from the car, which was possibly stolen, but they fled on foot after they failed, said Los Angeles Police Officer Clarence Dean. They then got into another car down the street and drove off.
The woman, who has not been identified, died at 11:27 p.m. at Pacifica Hospital--1 1/2 hours after the 10 p.m. accident on Strathern Street east of Fair Avenue.
