Fred Bowen, resident manager of the NASA office at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, has been elected chairman of United Way’s San Gabriel Valley regional board of directors. He will preside over the all-volunteer board, which establishes policy for raising money. The board in past years has distributed more than $8 million a year to local health and human service agencies. United Way’s San Gabriel region extends from Pasadena and Monterey Park on the west to Glendora and Rowland Heights on the east.
