X Marks the Spot: Having lost an earlier appeal, Miramax Films will try again Thursday to get the X rating on “Hardware” overturned by the Motion Picture Assn. of America’s Classification & Rating Administration. The sci-fi horror picture is scheduled for a mid-September release. The controversy is over a scene showing a man split in half when a door shuts on him.
