One Hollypark Record Broken and One Equaled
Hollywood Park’s racing surface was playing fast Saturday as a pair of three-year old colts broke one track record and equaled another in the third and sixth races.
Saron Stable’s Timebank went off a 2-5 favorite in the sixth and raced to a 4 1/2-length victory in the track record time of 1:14 2/5 for 6 1/2 furlongs.
Gary Jones trained the chestnut son of Water Bank and Kent Desormeaux was the rider. The mark was 1:14 4/5, set by Jacodra on May 6 of this year.
Earlier, Clover Racing Stable’s Kansas City sped to a four-length victory and equaled the track mark of 1:20 4/5 for seven furlongs. The brown son of Habitony is trained by Julio Canani and was ridden by Corey Black. The co-owner of the mark is Fifty Six Ina Row, who set the record in June of 1985.
Kansas City was racing in allowance company for a purse of $37,000 while Timebank was in with maidens for a $31,000 purse. Kansas City carried 113 pounds and Timebank 116.
