John Berentson, chief operating officer of Infotechnology Inc., the parent company of United Press International, has been appointed vice chairman of the news agency. Berentson, 50, who will continue at his Infotech post, replaces Joseph Taussig, who is leaving UPI to pursue other business interests. Berentson also continues to hold the title of Financial News Network executive vice president.
