AMERICAN LEGION ROUNDUP : West Sweeps Doubleheader; Win String at 16

Keyed by pitchers Corey Bromberg and Sean Boldt, Woodland Hills West continued its hot streak, winning its 15th and 16th consecutive games by beating Agoura, 14-2 and 6-1, at Oak Park High on the final day of the regularly scheduled American Legion baseball season Saturday.

In West’s opening win--called after five innings because of the 10-run rule--Bromberg (4-1) allowed runs in the first and third innings.

In the second game, Boldt (6-1) allowed two singles and a double, struck out five and walked two.

West (19-4) finished in a tie for first with Woodland Hills East in the Western Division standings.

In other District 20 games:

Panorama City 9-3, Van Nuys-Notre Dame 8-1--Panorama City scored five runs in the eighth inning and another in the ninth in the first game and Van Nuys (14-9) forfeited in the sixth inning of the second at Notre Dame High.

In the second game, Van Nuys forfeited in the sixth inning while trailing, 3-1. After Van Nuys assistant coach Mitch Graff was ejected for arguing a call, an umpire called the game when Graff kicked the bat rack in the dugout.

Woodland Hills East 3-13, Las Virgenes 0-3--Ryan Revel threw a four-hitter in the opener for East (19-4), which tied West for the Western Division title. In the second game, East’s Carey Wilbur had three hits and Glen Nahmias, Jamie Zeichick and Benji Belfield had two each.
