TRAFFIC: It will be worse this year, thanks to freeway construction along Newport Boulevard, the main approach to the fairgrounds. . . . But the fair is trying to compensate. Freeway signs urge use of the San Diego rather than Costa Mesa Freeway. . . . Weekends, parking will be free at the Auto Club lot on Fairview Road just north of the 405, with free shuttles to and from the fairgrounds from noon to midnight. . . . During the fair, OCTD is giving away free-ride coupons on all its buses. Routes 45, 57, 76 and 80 stop at the fair.
