Nation IN BRIEF : OHIO : Search for Victims of Flooding Ends
The search for victims of last month’s flooding has ended with the death count at 26, officials said in Shadyside, Ohio. Seven names remained on the list of those believed missing since the June 14 flood on the outskirts of the eastern Ohio town, but officials now believe those people were not in the area at the time, said Chuck Vogt, Belmont County coroner’s investigator. Floodwaters and debris hurtled down Wegee and Pipe creeks the night of the flood, leaving hundreds of people homeless. The cleanup around the creeks will continue, Vogt said. Several miles along both creeks have yet to be cleared of debris.
