NOUMEA, New Caledonia — French rugby player Dominique Bouet died in his hotel room of a suspected heart attack, team officials said today.
The 26-year-old from the French club Dax played in Saturday’s final test match, in which France beat Australia, 28-19.
The team then went to New Caledonia, a French territory in the South Pacific, for several days of vacation after a monthlong tour.
Bouet was discovered dead in his hotel room by several teammates early today. He was on the floor, midway between his bed and the bathroom.
A medical official with the French team said it appeared that Bouet died of a heart attack.
