A La Mesa woman pleaded innocent Friday to abandoning her twin daughters at a shopping mall to avoid being arrested for shoplifting.
Della Youngblood, 20, also is charged with petty theft, child abuse, and battery on a police officer.
The battery charge stems from allegations that, when she drove off, her car struck the arm of a security guard at Fashion Valley.
William Edwards, with the public defender’s office, asked for a bail review June 27 after San Diego Municipal Court Judge Patricia Cowett set bail at $25,000.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for July 6.
The 2-year-old girls were left in a shopping cart Tuesday and taken to Hillcrest Receiving Home. Edwards said Youngblood is pregnant, but he didn’t know when her baby is due.
