More than 400 students at an Inglewood elementary school held a lunchtime memorial service Friday to honor an 11-year-old classmate who was kidnaped and murdered last week on his way home from school.
William Tillette, a fourth-grader at Bennett-Kew Elementary School, was remembered in a series of songs, poems and speeches as a funny and handsome boy who loved to draw the Bart Simpson cartoon character. “I’ll miss William very much,” said Rayshon Brown, one of his friends.
A scholarship fund was established in William’s name and a tree will be planted in his memory. In addition, more than $1,000 in reward money has been pledged for information leading to the capture and conviction of the killers.
Police reported no new leads in the case.
