Pile Fails to Gain Final in Division I Track Meet
Lolita Pile of Cal State Northridge, the school record-holder in the women’s triple jump, failed to qualify for the final of that event in the NCAA Division I meet at Duke University on Thursday.
Pile, who jumped a wind-aided 41 feet 10 3/4 inches to place second in the Division II meet at Hampton (Va.) University last Saturday, leaped 39-10 in qualifying. The mark placed her 22nd among the 24 entrants.
The top 12 advanced to the today’s finals.
