Girl, 14, Stabbed; Ex-Friend Arrested
FOUNTAIN VALLEY — A 14-year-old girl was arrested Thursday on suspicion of stabbing another 14-year-old girl in the back with an Exacto knife, police said.
The victim was taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, where she received stitches for deep cuts to her back and left ear, Fountain Valley Police Lt. Mike Hanrahan said.
The incident occurred about 4:25 p.m. in the 11500 block of Quartz Circle, Hanrahan said. The suspect apparently had been “lying in wait for the victim,†he said.
The girls apparently were friends at one time but had had a falling out. “We don’t know what sparked it, but there was some sort of bad blood between them,†he said.
The assailant fled after the attack, but witnesses provided a description of her, and one of them provided a name, Hanrahan said.
Officers arrested the suspect at her home.
