More Athletic Shoes: Trying to gain an edge in the hotly competitive athletic shoe market, Asics Tiger Corp. of Fountain Valley plans a first-ever national advertising campaign to promote its new line of cross-training footwear.

The campaign will showcase the company’s GT-Intensity model, recently introduced, that features gel cushioning for shock absorption and motion control. In the next phase of the TV campaign, Asics will feature its line of basketball shoes.

Asic’s fall line is “our largest ever, one that deserves an equally ambitious marketing effort,†Asics Vice President Peter Goerhrig said.
