Two of Orange County’s best left-handed pitchers will start at 3:15 p.m. today when top-seeded Tustin High School plays host to La Quinta in the quarterfinals of the Southern Section 3-A division baseball playoffs.
Jon Korzen (7-1) of La Quinta will oppose Dan Baker (14-1) of Tustin. Tustin (24-3) advanced to the semifinals last year before losing to eventual champion Kennedy. La Quinta (21-8) has recorded two consecutive shutouts in the playoffs.
In another all-county match-up, surprising Marina (14-12-1) will play host to Mater Dei (20-8) in the 5-A division. Marina had failed to win a playoff game since 1976 before upsetting Hacienda Heights Wilson and Esperanza this year.
