OLDSMAR, Fla. — Law officials investigating the disappearance of Republican gubernatorial candidate Anthony Martin’s 6-year-old son sought today to find his estranged wife, the boy’s mother, suspecting that she might have taken the child.
The Pinellas County sheriff’s office issued a national bulletin on the boy’s disappearance, calling it a “possible parental abduction.”
Sheriff’s Sgt. Greg Tita said the mother, Helga Gehrke, returned a rental car today that officials believe she used to pick up the child on Wednesday.
“She was last seen getting into a van. They have recovered the rental car she was seen picking the child up in,” he said.
