NEW YORK — Marla Maples began a new job today as spokeswoman for No Excuses jeans with the blessing of Donald Trump.
“He’s absolutely supportive. . . . He thinks it’s a wonderful idea,” she said at a news conference when asked about her billionaire friend’s reaction to her decision to take a job previously held by Donna Rice.
Maples, the other woman in Trump’s breakup with his wife, Ivana, was introduced to more than 150 TV and press people at the Four Seasons restaurant by jeans manufacturer Neil Cole. She wore tight black size 5 jeans, a white T-shirt with the No Excuses logo across the chest, and her blonde hair long and straight.
Cole explained that his company has a policy of naming “exciting and newsworthy” personalities as spokespersons, such as Rice and TV personality Joan Rivers.
Rice was responsible for sinking Gary Hart’s 1988 presidential campaign.
