Drag racer Darrell Gwynn will undergo spinal surgery to alleviate the pain from injuries caused by a 240-m.p.h. crash, but a reversal of his paralysis from the mid-chest down is unlikely, a specialist said.
Gwynn, 28, suffered a broken neck and crushed spinal cord in the accident April 15 at Bedfordshire, England. Part of his left arm had to be amputated.
