Carson High Swimmer Sets Two City Records

Claudine Martinez of Carson High broke records in the 200-yard individual medley and the 500-yard freestyle Wednesday night in the City Section swim finals in Long Beach.
Martinez, a junior who hopes to swim at UCLA, swam a 2:09.19 in the individual medley to break her own record of 2:10.76. In the 500, her time of 5:00.18 broke the mark of 5:01.94 set by El Camino Real’s Melissa Rossie in 1979.
Helen Salcedo of Bell broke her City record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.22.
