Fieldy Scores 1 1/4-Length Win at Belmont Park

NEW YORK — Fernwood Stables’ Fieldy circled the field on the turn and drew away in the final yards for a 1 1/4-length victory over Summer Secretary in Sunday’s $87,900 Beaugay Handicap at Belmont Park.
Fieldy, sent off under jockey Craig Perret as the betting favorite in the field of five fillies and mares ages 3 and up, won for the second time in five starts this year.
The Irish-bred 7-year-old mare by Northfields out of Gramy earned $52,740 and returned $4.40, $2.60 and $2.20.
Summer Secretary paid $3 and $2.20 and Lady Talc, another six lengths back in third, paid $2.40.
