Joffrey Offers 3 Substitute Works

The Joffrey Ballet is offering “Arden Court,” “Illuminations” and “Le Sacre du Printemps” tonight, instead of the scheduled Gerald Arpino program. “Cotillon” replaces “Trinity” Wednesday, with “Billy the Kid” and “Lacrymosa” completing the bill as originally planned.
Negotiations between Arpino, as represented by attorney Harold Messing, and the Joffrey continue over the rights to choreographies created by Arpino while employed by the company.
The next program on which Arpino ballets are featured is Sunday evening, and the company hopes to be able to present them as scheduled. A meeting of the full Joffrey board is reportedly planned for Wednesday.
“I’m waiting to hear from them what they expect to accomplish at that meeting,” Messing said from New York, to which he returned Saturday. “I’m hoping that something good will come out of it.”
