BAD PRESS: Joseph Wambaugh (N1) moved out of Newport Beach last month, and his latest book, “The Golden Orange,” may hint at why. . . . The novel, set in Newport, curls its lip at the city’s glitzy, big-money lifestyles. . . . One scene describes the bar of a private, harbor-front club as being “dark enough to camouflage nips and tucks and bad sutures and lumpy implants and curdled silicone.” . . . For the record: Wambaugh is a member of the Balboa Bay Club.
