Cal/OSHA Cites Museum: The California Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued an 11-count citation against the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History alleging a variety of workplace safety violations ranging from apparently illegal asbestos removal to inadequate air quality in curators’ offices and laboratories. None of the violations occurred in an exhibition space or area open to the public. The Cal/OSHA citation, issued April 6, gave the museum until Monday of this week to make corrections and the state agency said the museum had certified that it met all state-mandated standards by the deadline. The most serious of the counts involved a basement asbestos removal project undertaken by the museum without proper notification.
