Brad Hawthorne, 34, of Oakland, won the Big Sur International Marathon in Carmel, Calif., with a time of 2 hours 25 minutes 3 seconds, a full 10 minutes ahead of his closest competitor.

Jose Santiago, 26, of Anaheim, took second at 2:35:28.

Kimberly Shaffer-Bruyn, 28, of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., won the women’s division with a time of 2:56:19.
