COLLEGE BASEBALL : Mike Robertson’s Five RBIs Lead USC to 7-5 Victory Over UCLA
Mike Robertson went four for four, including two home runs, and drove in five runs to lead USC to a 7-5 victory over UCLA in a Pacific 10 Southern Division game Sunday at Dedeaux Field.
Robertson hit a three-run homer in the second inning and a solo shot in the fifth to increase his season total to seven.
UCLA catcher Paul Ellis, who leads the country in homers, hit his 25th.
Winner Jackie Nickell (5-2) came on in the sixth, giving up three hits and striking out five in three innings. The loser was starter Tim Lindsay (6-6).
The Trojans, who won two of three from the Bruins during the weekend series, improved to 34-17 overall and 17-10 in the Southern Division. UCLA is 32-17 and 14-16.
