A 29-year-old man was slain in an argument among a group of men at a woman’s El Cajon apartment, police said Sunday.
The dead man, identified as Marcos Edward Hernandez of San Diego, was shot once in the chest shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday outside the apartment in the 900 block of East Washington Avenue, El Cajon police said.
Harold Edward Johnson, 50, of the 3500 block of Dorchester Drive in San Diego was booked on one count of murder, they said. He was identified as the father of the woman’s ex-boyfriend.
According to El Cajon police Lt. Robert Lein, the victim was a friend of the new boyfriend of the woman, identified as Tina Collins. He and the unidentified boyfriend were visiting with her at the apartment when Johnson and his son, Joel Martin Johnson, arrived, police said.
An argument over the woman broke out and spilled into the outside courtyard, where Hernandez was shot once in the chest, police said. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Sharp Memorial Hospital.
