The following is a summary of Southern California-related business litigation developments during the week of April 23:
Honda Design Defect Alleged: Honda was sued in U.S. District Court by Peggy J. Zuber and her husband, who claim that the manufacturer improperly designed their all-terrain vehicle, a 1986 Honda 200 SX. Zuber claims the vehicle landed on her when the brakes failed and the Honda did a front flip, hurling her from the passenger seat. In addition to alleging fraud and product liability, the suit claims that Honda did not comply with the terms of a 1987 consent order with the government, requiring the auto maker to notify buyers of all-terrain vehicles that the vehicles could cause death or serious injury and should be driven with a helmet and goggles. (Filed April 23, 1990. Case No. CV90-2017)
