P.M. BRIEFING : Electricity to Flow at Seabrook

SEABROOK, N.H. — Nuclear-generated electricity produced by the long-delayed, $6.5-billion Seabrook nuclear power plant will flow to consumers briefly this weekend for the first time, plant officials said today.
Workers are expected to open valves directing steam to the plant’s huge turbine-generator when the plant reaches about 10% of its operating capacity.
The plant has been conducting tests and operating at low power since receiving its federal operating license last month after a years-long battle with critics who questioned its safety.
