A man from Mexico was killed and his daughter and her children were injured Sunday in an accident on Pacific Highway, police said.
Jose Santos-Hernandez of San Luis, Mexico, was killed when the car driven by his daughter Carmen Hughes struck a bridge abutment at 4:13 a.m.
Hughes was driving south in the 3100 block of Pacific Highway near Point Loma when she apparently fell asleep at the wheel, San Diego police Lt. William Becker said.
Hughes, of San Diego, and her three children were taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where she was in good condition. The children were treated and released.
Santos-Hernandez died at the scene of internal injuries, authorities said.
