Japan’s top whiskey maker Suntory Ltd. said it plans to export beer manufactured at its joint venture in China to the United States and Canada toward the end of this year.
The Osaka-based company said demand for Chinese beer has been growing steadily in North America.
The company has been manufacturing beer at a joint venture in China since 1984. The venture sold 2.5 million cases of beer in China last year. Each case contains 24 bottles.
The company said it plans to increase production at the Chinese factory to 3 million cases this year and to 5 million cases sometime in the future.
