Medflies Found in 2 Areas Not Being Sprayed
Agricultural officials announced Thursday the discovery of two more Mediterranean fruit flies, this time in Azusa and Pomona.
A single immature female Medfly was found near Azusa Tuesday in a previously uninfested area off Chadley Street, said Larry Cooper, an eradication project spokesman. The Pomona Medfly was found Wednesday in a loquat tree off Dudley Street, also in an uninfested area. No decision has been made on whether the areas will be treated with aerial malathion spraying.
