HOT PROPERTY: The infamous Tara Ranch in Carbon Canyon, site of a mob-style ambush a year ago, is up for sale. . . . The 35 1/2-acre spread was owned by flamboyant former Highway Patrol officer Horace (Big Mac) McKenna, who tried to buy the Mustang Club topless bar in Santa Ana before he was murdered at the ranch’s entrance. Asking price: $2.5 million. . . . Real estate agent Fred Davis says most prospective buyers have been aware of the ranch’s history but were not mere curiosity-seekers. . . . Brea police say the case remains under investigation. “We’re plugging away at it,†Detective Grant Gulickson said.
