WORLD IN BRIEF : LEBANON : Violence Resumes in Christian Enclave

Fighting flared in Beirut’s Christian sector after nightlong artillery and tank duels northeast of the capital. Police said four people were killed and 14 wounded, raising the overall toll to 772 dead an 2,143 wounded since Jan. 30, when Maj. Gen. Michel Aoun moved to crush the forces of rival Christian leader Samir Geagea. The sporadic fighting, which breached a truce worked out March 2, coincided with stepped-up preparations for a widely expected large-scale battle.
