Drunk Drivers

I am writing in reference to the article “Law Yanks Habitual Drunks Out of the Driver’s Seat” (March 11).
I think it’s great that there is finally a state law that punishes third-time drunk drivers. They deserve to lose their licenses for three years and even have their vehicles confiscated. After all these people have been through, with fines and time in jail, you would think they would have learned better. But on the contrary, they haven’t.
This new law should put an end to some of the drunk drivers because they will either be without a license or a car, and without those, they can’t get far.
There is no excuse for a person to get behind the wheel when intoxicated. Drunk drivers put their lives in danger as well as the lives of innocent people. It’s not right or fair for people to suffer because of drunk drivers’ negligence.
They have committed this crime not once, not twice, but three times or more. They didn’t learn anything the first time, so they had to do it again. It just doesn’t make sense. But I forgot--drunks don’t think, they drink.
