Huntington Beach Man Found Dead in Condo
HUNTINGTON BEACH — Police are investigating the suspicious death of a 30-year-old Huntington Beach man found dead in his condominium bedroom Friday.
Police identified the victim as David Edward Hyatt, who lived in the 15500 block of Huntington Village Lane. Officers said late Saturday that they are investigating the case as a homicide and were awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Police said that they found blood spattered in the kitchen area and that the victim had head wounds, but they would not specify what kind of head injury.
Huntington Beach Police Lt. Patrick Gildea said the victim had apparently been dead for two days when police were called to the condominium complex Friday night by a maid who became alarmed when Hyatt did not answer the door. The maid always came once a week on Fridays, Gildea said.
Police said Hyatt was last seen alive on Wednesday.
Gildea said investigators had recovered no weapons at the scene but refused to disclose why police were handling the death as a homicide. Police have no suspects and found no signs of forced entry, he said.
The large, upscale complex is surrounded by a security fence. Visitors must pass a checkpoint to gain access.
On Saturday, police interviewed residents of the complex, one of whom told officers that the victim had been sharing his second-floor unit with another man.
