FLASH FROM THE PAST
“Christmas Tree Lane†on Santa Rosa Avenue in Altadena was planted with deodar cedars in 1882 by John Woodbury. The trees are native to the Himalayan slopes in Asia. Woodbury took a fancy to them during travels in Italy and ordered seeds shipped to his ranch. After they had sprouted in planting boxes, he placed about 100 seedlings along the shoulder of the road.
